Our challenge was to start widespread buzz around BASTA!’s grand opening in the highly competitive Little Italy neighborhood, where new restaurants often vie for the spotlight. With so many well-established eateries, it was crucial to craft a narrative that not only garnered media attention but also highlighted how BASTA! stands out from the crowd. Through strategic storytelling, we aimed to position BASTA! as a unique culinary destination, ensuring its debut would leave a lasting impression on San Diego’s dining scene.

To promote the grand opening of BASTA!, the latest concept by Sam the Cooking Guy, our PR strategy focused on creating a buzz in San Diego’s vibrant culinary scene through a mix of media and influencer relations as well as direct outreach to the the Little Italy neighborhood business and residential community. We prioritized connecting with local media outlets and influencers by hosting dedicated nights for media and select influencers. Our goal was to give these key players in San Diego’s dining community a firsthand experience of the warmth and hospitality BASTA! is known for, allowing them to authentically share their experiences with their audiences. We also leveraged Sam the Cooking Guy’s reputation and background to strengthen our outreach efforts, ensuring we connected with the most influential voices in the city.

In addition, we maximized our connections to local influencers through key community organizations, businesses and partners to ensure the who’s who of San Diego was in attendance on the friends and family night, ensuring we were not only reaching media and social media influencers, but some of San Diego’s biggest connectors and people of influence within the community.

The Results

The results of our PR efforts were outstanding. We secured features in major local online and print publications such as Eater San Diego, San Diego Magazine, LOCALE, and Travel Host, as well as coverage on broadcast stations like NBC 7, CBS 8, and KUSI. Additionally, over 30 of San Diego’s top influencers attended our influencer nights and shared their experiences with their followers, generating extensive organic content and engagement on social media. The combined efforts led to a successful grand opening with significant foot traffic and a strong online presence, establishing BASTA! as a must-visit destination in Little Italy’s Piazza della Famiglia.

Plus, the friends and family night as well as the opening were packed with all the right guests ensuring a total success!
