Over the years you start to pick up on routine sayings that Mother Dearest tells you, whether they are life lessons or just something you remember hearing a lot. In this Mother’s Day blog, each Olive is sharing a mom quote that they recall hearing quite a bit during their younger years. Here goes:
Christina: “You’ll thank me later.” (Hey, sometimes it takes a second for the advice to soak in!)
CJ: “Honey, life is too short to eat bad food.” (Side note: CJ’s mom is not the most notable cook, so it’s safe to say that this quote is mostly about not hesitating to live life exactly the way you want.)
Courtney: “Oooooo, sweatheart!” and “You little sh*t.” (Because life is all about balance, right Courtney?!)
Hannah: “Listen to your heart, it will guide you.” (In certain situations you gotta’ let your heart do the thinking.)
Jaclyn: “I love you to the moon and back.” (We can all agree that this is one of the best sayings on this planet, oops we mean galaxy.)
Lauren: “Make good choices.” (Agreed! Whether you’re picking out a donut or picking out a place to live.)
Lindsay: “What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.” (If you know Lindsay, then you know this idiom has been passed down…along with every other idiom known to mankind.)
Lydia: “May you have a wonderful day with peace and happiness.” (What a zen mom and daughter duo!)
Megan: “In the grand scheme of things, this is not going to be a big deal.” (An essential thing to remember during a #CantEven moment.)
Rebekah: “The cream always rises to the top.” (A reminder that good things happen to those who believe in themselves.)
Sam: “Because I said so.” (But mostly because they loved watching the Diane Keaton and Mandy Moore rom-com.)
And last but certainly not least…
Jenn: “I love you.” (What brings more confidence to a little one than feeling the love?)
The Olives dedicate this blog to mothers everywhere—thanks for the unconditional love and the laughs!
